Sam

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Sam came home for a few days over the weekend, and it was wonderful to have him back, to say the least. Being apart is always difficult, and it wasn’t less difficult in our case. You’d think having been apart when I was in Singapore initially made it easier to adjust. Nope. When he was leaving for HK for the first time, it was strangely easy to let him go. Maybe because I was so excited for him to experience HK and his new fellowship. This time around, it was so difficult to let go of him after his short vacation. Which is strange because he is going to be back 30 days after naman. Maybe because being together forever has never been so real as it is now, and we couldn’t just wait for it to begin… :)

Whitey is Back!

Whitey is back. I can’t believe how much paperwork I’ve put on hold (wedding-related and not). Aaaargh. I just am too impatient with the PC and all I did was the MUST-DO ASAP stuff. Everything else, i put on hold. The motherboard was what was wrong pala. The initial misdiagnosis made me lose 3 weeks. Arrrgh. Anyway, lesson learned for those contemplating getting a Mac: Applecare is always worth it :)

Whitey is Sick

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Whitey, my 7 month old Macbook is sick.  Last Monday night, he began hanging and freezing on me.  I tried Disk Utility and Applejack to no avail.  I think because he got too tired of my four night marathon (up till 2am) of Prison Break (I swear, Wentworth Miller is to die for! And he’s smart as hell, too!). So I had no choice but to bring him to PowerMac in Greenbelt where the nice staff member Ryan said they needed 3 days for diagnostics alone (WTF?!?!), plus a few more days for repair depending on what the problem was.  Haaay, thank God that the girl who sold the unit in Singapore had the foresight to include AppleCare in the package (3 year warranty, service and parts).  At least I don’t have to worry about the cost (to all of you who are thinking of getting the Mac, the Php20K cost of AppleCare is worth it, trust me).

So now I’m stuck with Auntie, our 4 or 5 yr old Acer PC who, I swear, must be heavier than me.  Kakabaliw lang kasi it’s sooooo slooooow (for someone with NO EQ and is anal retentive, this is no good).  Start up is like ten minutes, whereas Whitey starts in less than a minute. Oh well, beggars can’t be choosers.  I wish Whitey would get well soon. Talk about separation anxiety :)
